5 Hairstyles Perfect for Friendsgiving - Short to Long

Friendsgiving is for spending quality time with your friends and enjoying all of your favorite foods. The last thing you want to do is have a hairstyle that is not comfortable, or comes undone right as the selfies start.

That’s why we picked five styles for all hair lengths that hold comfortably, does not require heated tools to give your hair a break from the dry winter air, and are easy to do.

Short - Blunt Bob
Short to Medium - Heatless Wavey Bob
Medium - Flat, Claw Clip, French Twist
Medium to Long Pick - A High Bun with Bangs
Long Hair Pick - Half-Up Bubble Braid

Blunt Bob

You’re going to need a hairdresser for the initial trim, but once you have the blunt bob, it is your go-to for the holidays. The blunt in blunt bob simply refers to an even line that goes around your head. The sides are trimmed short so it can lay flat, but you can also add whisps and hair accessories like barrettes look fantastic.  And there is no shortage of ways to style and texture this look.

Heatless Wavey Bob

Heatless waves give you the bounce and fullness that bring a look to life, while showing up great in photos. If you prep this hairstyle the night before or morning of, just like heatless curls, it’s a matter of releasing your hair and a quick spritz with a medium or strong hold hairspray.

You only need a hair brush, hair ties, styling mousse, and hairspray to create this look.

  1. Brush your hair to remove tangles and knots.
  2. Now dampen it and run a styling mousse through it with your fingers.
  3. Create 5 to 7 ponytails and wrap each into a bun securing the tip into the hair tie.
    1. Heatless waves get thicker hair buns so the spiral is less defined which is why you do 5 to 7 instead of the 9 to 11 for heatless curls.
  4. Let this hold for at least 8 hours.
  5. Once you’re ready to create the look, let your hair out and carefully run your fingers through your hair to shape the waves to your desired look.
  6. Secure them into place by giving them a spritz with the hairspray.

Flat Clip French Twist

If you want quick, stylish, and incredibly comfy, a flat clip French twist is the go-to look for medium and most long hair lengths. It’s a classic French twist hairstyle that we all love, but in a flat hair clip.

The reason for the flat clip for Friendsgiving is you can lay your head back if you all decide to watch a movie together, or you spend the night. No need to undo your hair if you forget, and there’s no “ouch” moment like wearing a traditional claw hair clip.

  1. Brush knots and tangles out of your hair.
  2. Gather your hair in a low ponytail at the back of your head and use two fingers to begin twisting it into a coil.
  3. Keep going until it is just about to start bending in on itself and stop.
  4. Fold the hair coil along the back of your head and fan the coil over so it smoothes out.
  5. Secure it with the flat hair clip, and you’re done!

This is a simple and fast style that gets you Friendsgiving ready in no time at all!

High Bun with Bangs

It’s classy, you can frame your face, the look holds comfortably all day, and best of all a high bun with bangs takes minutes to style.

Go asymmetric and curl the bang on one side, or leave two matching ones out to help elongate round faces and complement heart shapes. For ovals, any bangs will do.  The high bun also works great if you have a square shape and your bangs are already side-swept or curtained.

  1. Brush your hair to remove any knots or tangles.
  2. Gather your hair into a ponytail at the crown of your head while leaving your bangs out.
  3. Secure the ponytail with a hair tie and twist it to form a coil but not so tight that it folds in on itself.
  4. Wrap the ponytail around the base to form a bun, and secure it with another hair tie.
  5. Tuck the tip of the ponytail into your hair bun for a more polished look, or leave it out for a messy style.
  6. Now style your bangs.

Half-Up Bubble Braid

Just like in the photo above, a half-up bubble braid is a go-to for Friendsgiving. You don’t need to use any heated tools so it is easier on your hair if it is already dry from the winter air, and when you use spiral hair ties you add pops of color to match your outfit.

  1. Section your hair into a top and bottom section and secure the top section into a high ponytail on the back of the crown of your head.
  2. Add another hair tie to the ponytail about 2 inches below the first, and tease the section in between into a bubble shape.
  3. Repeat this step until you reach where you want the bubbles to finish, then make sure each one is even.
  4. Now run your fingers through the lower and non-bubbled section of the braid so the look flows and blends together.
Optional: You can always go with two or three large bubbles instead of the standard small bubble braid like in the photo.

Friendsgiving is a time to enjoy dinner and quality time with your friends. There’s no reason to wear a hairstyle that gets in your face or doesn’t sit comfortably, so give one of the five above a try.
